Description: cardiostrong Vario Crank | Adjustable Crank
Adjustable crank arm for exercise bikes
Exercise bikes usually have crank arms that require a certain degree of flexion and extension in the knee and hip joints (approx. 120° of knee flexion). However, if the user's mobility is restricted due to injury, surgery, or degenerative joint changes, the crank arm can be shortened using the cardiostrong Vario Crank | Adjustable Crank. This means that you can still train on an exercise bike even if you have limited mobility.Areas of use:
- Supporting joint mobilisation
- Cartilage training in cases of osteoarthritis
- Rehabilitation following leg injuries
- Training the cardiovascular system
Adjustable crank arm
A vario crank allows users to adjust the length of the crank arm on an exercise bike to suit their height and physical needs. This helps to reduce strain on the joints and minimise the risk of injury or pain during training. If the crank arm is too long, it can put strain on the knee, hip and ankle joints, causing pain. Conversely, if the pedal arm is too short, the user may not be able to apply sufficient resistance, resulting in an ineffective workout.
With a vario crank, the user can adjust the length of the crank arm to optimise the position of the pedal for effective and safe movement. This is particularly important for users with an injury, illness or disability that impairs their mobility.
In general, using a vario crank on an exercise bike can help to make training more effective and safer, and reduce the risk of injury.
Variable crank length
The length of an adjustable crank arm, also known as a 'vario crank', can affect knee and hip flexion while cycling. A longer crank arm results in a greater range of motion, and thus a greater flexion angle of the knee and hip. Conversely, a shorter crank arm results in a smaller range of motion and thus a smaller flexion angle.A longer crank arm can increase mobility and range of motion when pedalling for people with limited knee or hip flexion. However, if the crank arm is too long, it can lead to strain on the knee or hip, particularly if the person already has knee or hip problems. Conversely, a shorter crank arm can reduce strain for those with limited muscle strength or joint injuries.
